I attended Michael Jackson’s movie” This is It” on Wednesday night. The documentary is funny, and enjoyable watching Michael Jackson at rehearsal. It was quite remarkable. At the moment you forget he is gone and all the negative things that happened to Michael.
The movie recalls old joys by showing us Michael Jackson in the safest and most normal place he ever knew: On stage, in a spotlight, in front of an adoring crowd.
Thriller was magical and the right time to air this film before Halloween. Smooth Criminal scene was amazing seeing Jackson inter-cut with vintage clips of Humphrey Bogart, Edward G. Robinson, and Rita Hayworth. This whole sequence works surprisingly well, and it would have been nice to see the finished product in 3D.
At these moments watching Thriller, Smooth Criminal, Earth Song, Billie Jean etc– – that the movie shines. Four decades into his career, Jackson could still hit those falsetto “WHOO-hoo-oohs!”; even years after he’d last stepped on stage, he could still moonwalk drop or snap into a Bob Fosse pose.
Through each song the crowd sang, laughed and screamed I love you Michael. If you’re a fan this you will enjoy watching this human version of this flawed genius. At Magic Johnson theater the projector stopped a few times. The audience screamed being interrupted while watching Michael Jackson in his moment. A few kids started dancing by the screen. Normally, I would have been upset but its all love for Michael. It was hilarious. Attending the movie was not only enjoyable but a memory of a lifetime. I will love Michael Forever!

A red-carpet premiere ceremony was held before the screening. Celebrities donning smart costumes filed into Nokia Theater, the premiere live music and concert destination in the heart of Los Angeles, along a red carpet.
People from home and abroad, many of them holding high the late pop singer’s posters, waited impatiently for their turns to go inside.
A number of fans, dressing like Michael Jackson’s hat, suit,T-shirts and a pair of silver gloves, posed in front of a big screen showing videos of his performances.
The atmosphere was totally different from then the Memorial service. Everybody seemed high-spirited and so eager to watch the 112-minute feature-length film as if they were going to a live pop concert.
Tickets authorities said a total of 6,000 tickets had already been sold out across the United States. The film will be shown from Wednesday in 75 countries and regions for a limited two-week run.

Berry Gordy arrives, what’s up with that tie, too much going on.

Believe it or not I was just talking about my search for wooden frame glasses for the pass (no joke) decade or so and look what I’ve found today. Okay the style is a bit old schooly, but I’m feelin them:
Shwood, the new Portland label making classic frames out of wood, recently launched their latest model, the Govy (pictured above). Refining the retro looks of the Canby (below), their first pair, this new edition has a lighter, slimmer silhouette and comes in zebrawood. (more…)
